Addendum

I really should have mentioned that the ONLY way to read Donna Leon's books is to listen. I was just reading an article by Benjamin Cheever in Audiofile Magazine in which he expounds on the joys of jogging and listening, driving and listening, flying and listening. You get the idea. He compares audio book listening to the comforting feelings he had being read to as a child.

David Colacci ( http://www.audiofilemagazine.com/gvpages/A1563.shtml ) IS Guido Brunetti; calm, thoughtful, clever, empathetic and he has a perfect accent to boot.

I don't have a comment on this book, but I'm wondering if anyone has come across "Shadow of the Wind" and what they thought about it. An acquaintance who just came back from Barcelona said it was all the rage in Europe and we all had to read it. So I promptly went out and bought it. My acquaintance loved it. Me? Not so much. Anybody else out there know of it?

First of all...why did you buy it and not check it out of the library :) Perhaps there was a waiting list and I suppose we must support our economy and the bookselling community...Anyway, I read that book for pleasure (neither review nor discussion, if you can imagine). I liked parts of it. The secret place/society, old books, mystery elements were fun and my preferred genre. There were some unsatisfying elements. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I don't know that I am prepared to say that Ruiz Zafon is the next Perez-Reverte.

Yeah, blogger's sister is back! No, I hadn't heard of it but looked it up and see it's on our shelf right now. Since I'll be in Barcelona in Oct. for 5 days (better get cracking on that Spanish) I think I'll check it out.I can add it to the 40 other overdue books I have out!

Infobabe doesn't know our Massachusetts library system does she? I doubt that would be on your shelves there. And with all the taxes you guys pay.....Mass. libraries are pitifully underfunded.

OK, this is weird. I didn't remove someone's comment on July 18th. I wonder who did?

The July 18 comment was "removed by author" and I was the author. I noticed something after I posted so I deleted it. I thought it would just go away without a trace...nope :)
